The Industrial Revolution

The next time you’re sitting through yet another boring class, consider this: A hundred years ago, you wouldn’t be going to school at all. You’d be working 12 to 16 hours a day in a factory. You would be fed just enough to keep you going for the next 12 to 16 hour day. The factory owner would beat you with a strap to make you work faster. Or maybe dip you head first into the water cistern if you became sleepy. More than likely you would be drowsy, having slept only a few hours the night before on the cold, hard floor of the factory where you worked.
