From Conception to the Tonys:
The Chronology of the Birth of a Show

1. The Idea
Composer, Lyricist, and Playwright get an idea. They create an outline and seminal song ideas. Ideas can come from pre-existing material (movies or books) or can be unique ideas.

2. A Clear Concept
After countless drafts and much trial and error, the creative team joins forces with a Director in order that they might gain dramaturgical insight from an outside set of eyes and ears. A demo recording is created, so that the show can be better shopped around to interested parties.

3. The Table Read
A table read is rehearsed and performed for various invited producers. This table read not only allows for the creative team to hear their
work, but is an audition of sorts for the new show. Those producers interested in taking the piece into the commercial realm, will then attempt to option the piece for commercial production.
